Mariella, who trained at the School of the National Ballet of Peru, has taught both classical and folkloric works in Peru and Canada. She danced for Compañía de Ballet del Teatro Municipal de Lima in Peru and taught for Maritime Dance Academy and the Halifax Regional School Board. She went to New York to train at the American Ballet Theatre open class program and attended many summer teacher’s seminars at the National Ballet School of Canada in Toronto, Cuballet in Havana- Cuba, the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver, and the International Ballet Invitational Competition for Dance Schools in Beijing, China. She received the Nesta Toumine Award from the Society of Russian Ballet and she holds her Advanced Teacher’s Certificate with the Society. She is currently on staff at Halifax Dance. She served the position of Halifax Dance Artistic Advisory Committee from September 2001 to June 2008, of Artistic Executive for Halifax Dance from March 2004 to September 2008, and has been one of the répetiteurs of Halifax Dance production of The Nutcracker from1998 to 2011. Besides dance, Miss Belleza holds her Bachelor degree in Science, in Nursing and her Master degree in Education.
